Welcome to life
after Christ

So, you're an ex-Christian...what now?
We're here to help you on your journey.

Losing God is great, but losing all those friends from church is a whole other deal. Sometimes ex-Christians feel fine being around their religious buddies, but it might start to feel weird as you realize that they all still believe a misogynistic fairy tale about a monstrous god that made a Universe out of nothing and killed a bunch of babies.

Making new friends can be hard, but not impossible. Start by searching community gatherings in your area like Farmer’s Markets, free concerts, or local library events. Be outgoing! People who go to those events are usually happy to chat. Even if the new friends you make are religious, they won’t have known you as a religious person your whole life, so they are more likely to accept you as a non-believer. And hey, maybe you’ll help them deconstruct down the road!

Well, it turns out you’re not best friends with the telepathic monster who made the Universe. This might be a blow to your ego, but that doesn’t mean you have no value. In fact, without an all-powerful god predetermining all our plans like useless pawns in a chess game he’s playing against himself, we actually have more value.

Meaning comes from minds. Even as Christians we all thought God had some intentional plan that he thought up for us with his mind. But now that we know he’s fake, we stills have minds. We can think for ourselves and we can apply meaning, value, and purpose for ourselves.

Your life doesn’t have a singular purpose, there are things which give your life purpose. Those things are many and varied and they change over time. When you were a kid, learning, growing, and having crushes gave your life meaning. As you grew up, that changed into pretending to know things, maintaining a healthy weight, and trying to turn crushes into meaningful relationships.

All of these experiences imbue your life with purpose.

At the end of your life, you might look back and see an arc or a theme. Some sort of larger purpose might emerge in retrospect, some greater value that you didn’t know you held, a motivation you can only observe in hindsight. That’s special, but it isn’t going to be the case for everyone. For many of us, the purpose in our lives will change from era to era in dynamic ways which keeps it fresh and exciting!

Now go live your life to the fullest, experiencing all the beautiful things you can. It means something.

Hell is scary. They made it that way on purpose. To scare you in to believing. Luckily, the story isn’t true. But that feeling doesn’t go away so easy.

Most of us were ingrained with that fear from a pretty young age, so it’s going to take some time for it to fade away. Be patient. Soon you’ll be looking back at this moment with a bit of laughter.

It’s worth noting that if an all-loving being did exist, they would love you and wouldn’t allow you to suffer in an afterlife for any reason. The whole idea never made sense. All you are doing is unraveling the indoctrination that was implanted into you long ago.

Now that you don’t have eternity to worry about, you might be looking for something fun to do. This is the fun part.

The spiritual realm isn’t real, but even if it were you couldn’t really interact with it. Here in the real world you can make music, climb a mountain, learn a new language, pet a cow, and listen to whales sing. And that’s just a few examples. It’s your adventure.

Here are a few more ideas to explore.

Learning new skills, exploring nature, and enjoying a vibrating sex toy are all wonderful ways to kick start your new escapade as a nonbeliever. Now you can truly dance like no one is watching you from heaven. So, get out there and live a little. In fact, live a lot.

You're not alone. Other people are realizing the story in the Bible isn't true. It's time to get out there and live a little, in fact, live a LOT.

Other people are leaving Christianity, too. Let's look at the numbers.

In the U.S., Christianity dropped 15% while nonreligious numbers went up 13%“Key Findings From the Global Religious Futures Project”

Unfortunately, the number of religious people is increasing globally because they tend to have a higher birth rate (especially in Muslim populations). Even so, more people are walking away from religion than ever before. You're now part of that movement towards a more progressive, scientific, and positive future.
